My name is Matt Deal. I am currently in my third year with the manufacturing sub-team. I joined the team because it was a great opportunity for me to gain some engineering-related skills. This is critical since my goal is to become an engineer of some sort when I grow older. I am trained with the CNC machine which stands for computer numerical control. It is a computer “controller” that reads G-code instructions and drives a machine tool. A machine tool is a powered mechanical device typically used to fabricate components by the selective removal of material. CNC does numerically directed interpolation of a cutting tool in the work envelope of a machine. In my spare time, I play football, video games such as Call of Duty 4, and I also like to hang out with friends. My favorite memory while on the robotics team would have to be the trip to Arizona. The Grand Canyon was amazing. Beside the trip to Arizona I had a great time this past year going to New York for the SBPLI Regional. It was very fun working the field with the rest of my team members.
