Hi. My name is Norm Chastain. For the past 6 years, I have been a mentor on the team in the manufacturing section. My oldest son was on the team when an EDM machine was donated. I volunteered to hook it up when it was delivered to the lab. After this, the lead teacher at the time asked my son if I would like to be a volunteer member of the team. I was not inclined to do so. After checking out how the team was run with their emphasis on real-life experience, such as going out into the public to procure sponsorship money, the general structure of the team, and the actual student designed and built robot, I could not resis joining the team. Over these past 6 years, I have earned my own chair(s), complete with my name on them. Of all the activities available to my sons, I believe that the FIRST robotics team, Cyber Blue 234, is by far the best choice they could have made. Like I once told the school superintendent, the chance of my children becoming professional athletes is pratically zero, but the chance of them becoming engineers is absolute, if that is the career they should choose.<
